We specialize in maintaining regenerative airheaters with a core focus on industry standard Ljungström airheaters. Since Fredrik Ljungström’s invention was revealed in 1920, this simple, reliable, and proven airheater design has become an industry standard product for many large steam generators around the world. Although the overall design is simple, there are numerous mechanical and operational factors that require attention to detail. These details include proper settings, sealing and mechanical maintenance practices employed to ensure optimal heat transfer, efficiency, and minimize leakages between the air and flue gas ducts.

With the addition of Air Pollution Control (APC) equipment, increased system differential pressures (air & gas), fuel variations and load cycling, these variables all influence reliability and performance of the airheater and it’s important to understand that nearly all APC and fan equipment are all “gas volume” limited. In other words, the equipment is designed for a certain volume of gas. Once you exceed that design margin, you exhaust the equipment and reduce performance.

Proxxent provides standard airheater seals (Radial, Circumferential, Bypass, and Axial seals) with a very short lead-time. In emergent cases, seals can be manufactured in our ISO 9001 certified shop and shipped within 3-4 days of receiving the order.
